Volleyball Recap: Homer Takes a Loss

After flying high against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Monday, Homer came back down to earth. The Knights lost 3-0 to the Pender Pendragons on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since September 11th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-13.

Chayce Abts paced Homer's offense, picking up 11 kills. Abts got some help from Madi Roeber and her 27 assists. Abts was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Pender was led to victory by Mattilyn Trimble and Samantha Kinning. Trimble had 16 digs and two aces, while Kinning had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Kinning has posted over her last two contests.

Homer moved to 14-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Pender, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Homer will square off against Winnebago at 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Pender, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on the 16th.
