Baseball Recap: Windham Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wheeler, Windham was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Parish Hill Pirates. The Whippets haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Francisco Alvarado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Alvarado was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Windham let Kamryn Beebe and Brandon Holman run wild. Beebe went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Holman got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those four hits gave Beebe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yender Martinez-Gomez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Windham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Windham's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Parish Hill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Windham will head out on the road to take on Putnam at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Parish Hill, they will be playing at home against University at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
