Basketball Game Preview: Humphreys County Cowboys vs. Yazoo City Indians

The Humphreys County Cowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Yazoo City Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Humphreys County has five straight wins, Yazoo City has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Humphreys County will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Simmons, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cowboys walked away with a 51-40 victory over the Blue Devils on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Cowboys were the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Humphreys County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylah Jones, who went 14-for-30 to rack up 24 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jamyrah Harris, who posted eight points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Yazoo City came up short against Forest Hill on Tuesday and fell 41-34.

Humphreys County's record now sits at 5-0. As for Yazoo City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Humphreys County was taken down by Yazoo City 59-21 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
