Softball Recap: Dawson County Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Dawson County came out on top against Pickens on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Kylee Pulley's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaelyn Utech, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hamilton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dawson County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Pickens, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 14-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dawson County will venture away from home to face off against Lumpkin County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Pickens, they are taking a road trip to take on North Hall on Thursday.
