Volleyball Recap: Omaha Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Omaha South last Thursday, Omaha Central came back down to earth. The Eagles came up short against the Mercy Monarchs on Tuesday, falling 3-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Monarchs when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Omaha Central was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-14, 25-23.

Ilana Briggs paced Omaha Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Briggs got some help from Scout Grummons and her ten assists.

Omaha Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Mercy, they pushed their record up to 13-14 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Omaha Central has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Bryan on the 15th. As for Mercy, they will take on Ashland-Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
