Basketball Recap: Vanlue Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Olivia Secord and Adrienne Phillips

It was a proper cat-fight when Vanlue took on Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday. The Vanlue Wildcats took a hard 45-30 fall against the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Adrienne Phillips and Olivia Secord certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Phillips almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards, while Secord posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Secord is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Vanlue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Stritch only pulled down six offensive boards.

Cardinal Stritch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amaya Hill, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sydney Miller, who scored 13 points.

Vanlue has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Cardinal Stritch, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-12 record.

Vanlue didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-26 loss against Leipsic on the 30th. As for Cardinal Stritch, they will face off against Waite at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal Stritch is facing Waite at the right time seeing as Waite is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
