Football Recap: St. John Lutheran Takes a Loss

St. John Lutheran had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it four. They came up short against the First Academy Eagles, falling 55-34. The Saints were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-6.

As for First Academy, their record is now 5-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while St. John Lutheran is ranked 496th).

Henry Purvis had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 172 yards and six touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 23 passing touchdowns on the season. Another player making a difference was Rayce Teate, who picked up 75 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, St. John Lutheran will face off against Gainesville Christian Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for First Academy, they will challenge Real Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Raptors have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
