Flag Football Recap: Green Mountain's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over + How To Watch

Green Mountain and The Classical Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Green Mountain had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 27-24. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since November 2, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Green Mountain lost, don't look at Marissa VanGuilder. Despite the final result, she picked up 120 receiving yards and one TD.

Green Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Maddie Amolsch and Ella Cockrum. Cockrum has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times she's played. Amolsch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

A big part of The Classical Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Kelsey Peterson and her top target Reagan Harter. Peterson threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns while Harter picked up 83 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Harter was even better on defense, picking up two sacks, making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defending two passes.

With the loss, Green Mountain broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5. As for The Classical Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Green Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Classical Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-0 victory against Mountain View on the 25th.
