Aquinas comes up short despite Bryant Stouffer's dominant performance

Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Douglas County West Falcon

The Aquinas Monarchs struggled with assists on Saturday (the Douglas County West Falcon had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Aquinas received a tough blow as they fell 65-47 to Douglas County West. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aquinas in their matchups with Douglas County West: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryant Stouffer. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Stouffer scored a full 36.2% of Aquinas' points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Garett Novacek was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.

Leading Douglas County West to victory were Nolan Asher and Ryker Wohlers. Asher scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, while Wohlers scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Asher's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Wiese, who scored three points along with ten assists and three steals.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Douglas County West, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas and Clarkson/Leigh will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Clarkson/Leigh is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
