Baseball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christopher Cougars. The Dores were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Monterey got a good showing from Jacob Mewborn, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Mewborn a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Monterey saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Miramontes, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Christopher, their record is now 2-3.

Looking ahead, Monterey will host St. Francis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christopher, they are taking a road trip to square off against Gilroy at 4:00 p.m. on March 14th.
