Calaveras wins going away against Franklin

Recap: Calaveras Red Hawks vs. Franklin Yellowjackets

Winning is just a little bit easier when you drain five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Calaveras Red Hawks proved on Tuesday. They took down Franklin 58-39. That looming 58-39 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Calaveras yet this season.

Calaveras found their leader in underclassman Ryan Clifton, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Clifton. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Pedersen, who scored 14 points.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Lazaro, who scored nine points along with three steals. Moses Belasco was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Franklin were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Calaveras' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Franklin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Calaveras is on the road again on Thursday and play against Kimball at 5:15 p.m. on December 7th. Kimball is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54 points per game. Franklin and University Prep will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. University Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Franklin in California (University Prep is ranked 412th, while Franklin is ranked 1269th).
