Basketball Recap: Omari Russell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hardee

The third road match was the charm for Fort Meade, as they earned their first road win of the season. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 53-36 win over the Hardee Wildcats on Tuesday. The Miners have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Fort Meade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Omari Russell led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Russell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cayden Clark, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Fort Meade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Hardee lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Teagan VanSickle, who had 12 points. The dominant performance gave VanSickle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Rodriguez, who posted ten points.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Hardee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Fort Meade wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-27 loss against George Jenkins on the 19th. As for Hardee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-73 win against DeSoto County on the 19th.
