Softball Recap: West Caldwell Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

West Caldwell hadn't done well against Maiden recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Blue Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 back in March.

Abby Bowman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West Caldwell's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Courtney Hartley, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

West Caldwell's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Maiden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Caldwell will head out to take on North Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Maiden, they will venture away from home to square off against Lincoln Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
