Softball Recap: George Washington Prep Generals vs. Rise Kohyang Tritons
George Washington Prep's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Rise Kohyang Tritons with a sharp 20-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Generals considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Aracely Gonzales made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Emily Varela and Teaka Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Varela scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Evans got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Varela a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaj Sims, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
George Washington Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got George Washington Prep back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George Washington Prep will head out to face off against Elizabeth at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rise Kohyang will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smidt Tech at 2:00 p.m. on April 1st.
