Basketball Recap: Merkel Comes Up Short

Merkel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 50-39 to the Jim Ned Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Badgers of the 57-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2025.

Merkel's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Jim Ned, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Merkel is set to challenge their familiar foe San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jim Ned will square off against rival Clyde at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
