Baseball Recap: Wilcox County Patriots vs. Early County Bobcats
Wilcox County extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Early County. Everything went their way against the Early County Bobcats as they made off with a 12-4 win. Winning may never get old, but Wilcox County sure is getting used to it with their 20th in a row.
Jake Howell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits. Howell has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Howell was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wilcox County got a massive performance out of Bo Bloodworth, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Bloodworth is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Davis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
On Early County's side, Evan Grist made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Wilcox County pushed their record up to 22-3 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home. As for Early County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-13.
Wilcox County will stay at home for another game and welcome Jenkins County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
