It's playoff time, and Minisink Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cornwall Central Dragons 24-21. The Warriors' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Zach Filip had a dynamite game, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Those 145 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Minisink Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Cornwall Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reef Morrison, who picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. Danny Twomey was another key player, throwing for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Minisink Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Cornwall Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Minisink Valley will challenge Rye at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Garnets have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight matchups. As for Cornwall Central, they will face off against Niskayuna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Dragons 8.1, the Silver Warriors 12.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
