Softball Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Falls to Novato in First Game of Season

Salesian College Preparatory unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 7-4 to the Novato Hornets on Friday. The Pride were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

DeAmor Coleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Valeria Cuevas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Mia Villanueva was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Novato's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salesian College Preparatory will square off against Moreau Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Novato, they will be playing at home against Pinole Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
