It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Roosevelt ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Melvindale Cardinals 7-6. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Jadn' McGowen was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was RJ Pauley, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

The win got Roosevelt back to even at 13-13. As for Melvindale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-12.

Roosevelt will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair will be back at it again later today.
