Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Vikings vs. University Prep Panthers

Pleasant Valley is 9-1 against University Prep since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Pleasant Valley Vikings will jump right back in to play the University Prep Panthers at 12:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Pleasant Valley turned things around against Weed on Friday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 55-48. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 829th, while the Cougars are ranked 388th).

It was another big night for Keith Thompson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Mebrahtu, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, University Prep earned a 77-68 victory over Eagle Point on Friday.

Pleasant Valley's record is now 3-5. As for University Prep, their record now sits at 4-2.

Pleasant Valley took their win against University Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 66-46. Does Pleasant Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will University Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
