Basketball Recap: Churchill Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Churchill hadn't done well against Reagan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Churchill Chargers snuck past the Reagan Rattlers with a 63-59 victory. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Rattlers back in January, they had to take a 63-56 loss.

Reagan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jemitri Wurtz, who went 7 of 8 en route to 21 points, and Chase Hill, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Hill has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christian Kelley, who posted four points.

Churchill is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-13 record this season. As for Reagan, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-10 record this season.

Churchill will challenge Johnson at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Johnson will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Churchill surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reagan, they will face off against Clark at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Reagan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.
