Slinger extended their postseason success on Saturday against Fond du Lac. They had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 3-2. The Owls have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Slinger got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-13.
Slinger was led to victory by Allie Beers and Brooke Zoromski. Beers had 11 digs and six assists, while Zoromski had six digs. That's the most assists Beers has posted since back in September.
Despite the loss, Fond du Lac still got an impressive performance from Breahna Mentink, who had 23 digs and four assists. Mentink has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.
The win made it two in a row for Slinger and bumps their season record up to 22-13. As for Fond du Lac, their defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 19-12.
Coming up, Slinger will challenge Menomonee Falls on Thursday. Fond du Lac does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
