Baseball Recap: Shikellamy Braves vs. Central Mountain Wildcats

Shikellamy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Mountain Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Shikellamy of the 8-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.

Mark Culp put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Culp has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Culp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kayden McClusky made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shikellamy will take on North Schuylkill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Central Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
