Baseball Game Preview: Corona Panthers vs. Santiago Sharks

For the second straight game, Corona will face off against Santiago. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Corona 1.1, Santiago 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Corona narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Santiago 4-3. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Mason Sims tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Ebel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Corona's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Santiago, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
