Softball Recap: South Fork Comes Up Short

South Fork and Legacy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but South Fork had to settle for second. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-1 loss back in March.

Mackenzie Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Rachel Kramer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. Briana Carrier was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

South Fork has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

South Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Legacy, they will take on Pembroke Pines Charter at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
