Basketball Recap: Parkdale Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked the Carmel School

It was a proper cat-fight when Parkdale challenged The Carmel School on Saturday. The Parkdale Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 victory over The Carmel School Wildcats. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 210th in Maryland, while the Wildcats are ranked 82nd in Virginia).

Parkdale can attribute much of their success to Tavonte Martin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Isaiah Richards was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Parkdale's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for The Carmel School, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Parkdale will challenge Flowers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Parkdale likes a good challenge. As for The Carmel School, they will take on Shining Star Sports Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Shining Star Sports Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.3 points per game this season.
