Baseball Game Preview: Raleigh Lions vs. Discovery Christian

The Raleigh Lions will square off against Discovery Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Raleigh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Raleigh took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Forest 5-3. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ryder Ivy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Raleigh's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Discovery Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Raleigh, falling 11-3.

Raleigh's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Discovery Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Raleigh's way against Discovery Christian in their previous meeting on Friday, as Raleigh made off with an 11-3 victory. Will Raleigh repeat their success, or does Discovery Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
