Volleyball Recap: Point Pleasant Victorious

After losing to St. Joseph Central the last time they met, Point Pleasant decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Big Blacks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Irish 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Big Blacks.

Point Pleasant had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-14, 15-13.

Chloe Patrick paced Point Pleasant's offense, picking up nine kills. Patrick got some help from Ava Riffle and her 19 assists. Finally, Patrick was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Despite the defeat, St. Joseph Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Anderson had 13 digs and two aces.

The victory got Point Pleasant back to even at 17-17-1. As for St. Joseph Central, they moved to 24-7 with that loss, which also ended their 11-match winning streak.

Point Pleasant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Ravenswood on the 23rd. As for St. Joseph Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Sissonville on the 23rd.
