Softball Recap: Arnold Comes Up Short

Arnold and Fort Walton Beach squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Arnold had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.

Bre Clark spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayley Sexton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Arnold's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Fort Walton Beach, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-8.

As of now, neither Arnold nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
