Volleyball Recap: Cornerstone Family Comes Up Short

If Cornerstone Family was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of New Hope Christian on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Saints came up short against the Whitefield Academy Lions on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cornerstone Family was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-22.

Molly Hall paced Cornerstone Family's offense, picking up seven kills. Hall got some help from Abi Krehbiel and her five assists. Hall also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Abby Anderson, each putting up two.

Cornerstone Family's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Whitefield Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, Cornerstone Family and Whitefield Academy will both be playing St. Joseph D the next time they take the court. The Saints will head out to face the Defenders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
