Volleyball Recap: Thomas County Central Triumphs

Thomas County Central hadn't done well against Valdosta recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets skirted past the Wildcats 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Wildcats since August 27, 2019.

Thomas County Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-14, 15-11.

Jaden Crews paced Thomas County Central's offense, picking up nine kills. Crews got some help from Kate Henson and her 18 assists. Henson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Thomas County Central has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Valdosta, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Thomas County Central has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Lowndes on the 9th. As for Valdosta, they will head out to face off against Valwood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
