Basketball Recap: Lennard Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Middleton last Wednesday, Lennard came back down to earth. The Lennard Longhorns took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newsome Wolves. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lennard still got an impressive performance from Nate Montalvo, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Sykes, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lennard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Lennard's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Newsome, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Lennard will head out to challenge Sumner at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lennard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Newsome, they will welcome East Bay at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
