Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Prep Saints vs. Cardinal Mooney Cougars

The Trinity Prep Saints will challenge the Cardinal Mooney Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Trinity Prep fell victim to Lake Highland Prep and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They came up short against the Highlanders, falling 10-0. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trinity Prep got a good showing from Joseph Macau, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Macau has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Trinity Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 9-0 shutout. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Kevin Brinkworth looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mateu Dalmau, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Hossenlopp, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Cardinal Mooney hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Nona struck out nine times.

Trinity Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Cardinal Mooney, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
