Volleyball Recap: Doral Academy Wins Going Away Against Palmetto

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Doral Academy had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Palmetto Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Doral Academy walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-10, 25-16.

Doral Academy found their leader in sophomore Amy Smith, who had 28 assists and four aces. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more assists the last 12 times she's played.

Doral Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Doral Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for Palmetto, they dropped their record down to 17-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Doral Academy nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
