Basketball Recap: Flanagan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dominic Carias and Jason Carias

Flanagan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a hard 83-66 fall against the Cooper City Cowboys. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Cowboys are ranked 221st).

Jason Carias and Dominic Carias certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Jason posted 26 points, while Dominic earned 16 points.

Cooper City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamier Johnston led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Johnston has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Steven Loebl was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Flanagan's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cooper City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing South Broward the next time they take the court. Flanagan will host South Broward at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cooper City will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
