Softball Recap: Palmview's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

While Palmview's victory against Juarez-Lincoln wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Palmview narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Juarez-Lincoln 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lobos sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Abigail Cantu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marina Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Salinas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Palmview's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.43 strikeouts in those games compared to only 2.8 in the others. As for Juarez-Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Palmview will square off against rival Nixon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Juarez-Lincoln is set to challenge their familiar foe Cigarroa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
