Volleyball Game Preview: Annandale Atoms vs. Hayfield Hawks

On Tuesday, Annandale came up short against Falls Church and fell 3-1. The Atoms have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The losing side was boosted by Jairo Castillo Cardona, who had 15 digs and one assist. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Andrew Banks also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hayfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Mount Vernon 3-0 on Tuesday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Majors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Hayfield's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 25-10.

Annandale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Hayfield, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Annandale couldn't quite get it done against Hayfield in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Hawks' Preston Simpson, who had 22 digs and four assists.
