Baseball Game Preview: Shadow Hills Knights vs. Palm Desert Aztecs

The Shadow Hills Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Palm Desert Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Shadow Hills saw some tournament action on Thursday. They fell 8-5 to Brawley.

Shadow Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Briceno, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Briceno has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Palm Desert had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They skirted past the Panthers 4-2. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by exactly two runs.

Tyler Nicolay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Palm Desert's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Shadow Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Shadow Hills suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Palm Desert in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
