Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Corona del Sol Aztecs

The Mountain View Toros will square off against the Corona del Sol Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mountain View 3.8, Corona del Sol 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, Mountain View needed a bit of extra time to put away Williams Field. They came out on top against the Black Hawks by a score of 5-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Mitchell Lamoreaux and Devin Park dominated on the mound. Lamoreaux didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched, while Park didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over five innings pitched. Lamoreaux has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lincoln Arrington was excellent, earning two runs and two stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Duke Henrie also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Corona del Sol faced Boulder Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Aztecs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The victory was the third in a row for Corona del Sol, bringing their record up to 6-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
