Softball Recap: Putnam County Takes a Loss

Putnam County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 13-1 to the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grey Ghosts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Illinois Valley Central, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Putnam County will square off against Amboy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Illinois Valley Central, they will take on Princeville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Illinois Valley Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: Princeville has averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
