Baseball Recap: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Westview Wolverines

Fallbrook had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 3-13-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Westview Wolverines, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.

Brayden Dent was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Westview, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Westview's side, Logan Johnson tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Johnson a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Westview got a massive performance out of Joseph Arango-Manley, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Arango-Manley has posted since back in March. Zeke Gutierrez was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Fallbrook had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
