Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Erie). They put the hurt on the Monarch Coyotes with a sharp 17-5 victory on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Sophee Horovitz looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Erie got a massive performance out of Molly Young, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Natalie Fetters was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Erie hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.
Erie's record is now 14-4. As for Monarch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Erie is set to square off against their familiar foe Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Monarch will face off against rival Legacy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
