Baseball Recap: Fairmont Triumphs

Fairmont was forced to take a big loss against Springboro on Monday, they got the better of them on Wednesday. The Firebirds never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Firebirds: when they faced off against the Panthers on Monday, they had to take a 10-0 defeat.

Skyler Slifer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Fairmont's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

Fairmont now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Springboro, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Fairmont will head out to face off against Centerville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Springboro, they will take on Miamisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
