Volleyball Recap: Brighton Cardinals vs. Bartlett Panthers

If Brighton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Covington on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals came up short against the Bartlett Panthers on Monday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

While Brighton ultimately came up short, they really made Bartlett work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-19, 25-17.

Brighton's offense was headlined by Kaitlyn Chapman and Savannah Forbess, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Greta Garrett and her 29 assists. Chapman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Bartlett can attribute much of their success to Kailee Almeria, who had 18 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Almeria has posted over her last seven matchups.

Brighton's defeat dropped their record down to 20-12. As for Bartlett, they pushed their record up to 11-21 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Brighton nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
