Basketball Recap: Haxtun Comes Up Short

Haxtun was the 55-38 winner over Highland when they last played one another back in March of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Huskies on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Haxtun still got an impressive performance from Bobbi Starkebaum, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Haxtun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Haxtun now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Haxtun will take on Wiggins in a tournament on Thursday. Wiggins will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Haxtun surely won't give up without a fight. As for Highland, they will be taking part in a tournament against Forge Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
