Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Atchison

Atchison came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wyandotte Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Give the Phoenix's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Yogi Purdy and Brody Barnes were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Purdy struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Barnes pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. At the plate, Purdy got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Barnes went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grady Clark was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Julo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Atchison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyandotte only posted an OBP of .100.

Atchison's record now sits at 4-1. As for Wyandotte, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Atchison will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Wyandotte, they have already played their next matchup, a 9-4 defeat against Sumner Academy on the 9th.
