Basketball Game Preview: Incarnate Word Academy Angels vs. Holy Cross Knights

Incarnate Word Academy and Holy Cross are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Incarnate Word Academy Angels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holy Cross Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Incarnate Word Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 86-49 win over John Paul II. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-23.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Centurions 89-7. That looming 89-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Incarnate Word Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.

Things could have been worse for Incarnate Word Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Holy Cross in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holy Cross' Aaron Garcia, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points along with eight assists and seven boards.
