Volleyball Recap: Agawam Wins High-Profile Match Against West Springfield

Agawam faced West Springfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Brownies skirted past the Terriers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Brownies in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won eight in a row.

Agawam wouldn't go down easily and took West Springfield into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 21-25, 15-10.

Joseph Culhane paced Agawam's offense, picking up 14 kills. Culhane got some help from David Dzhenzherukha and his 40 assists. Finally, Chase Gerani kept Agawam's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Agawam's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. As for West Springfield, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-6 record.
