Basketball Recap: Neshoba Central Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Neshoba Central waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They rang in the new year with a 62-53 win over the Ridgeland Titans. That's more bragging rights for the Rockets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Neshoba Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lailah Henry, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Henry a new career-high in points. Iyley Denson was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Ridgeland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaelyn Luckett, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, and Eva Young, who had 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Young's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilyana Greenfield, who put up four points.

Neshoba Central's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Ridgeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
