Football Game Preview: Mashpee Falcons vs. Clinton Gaels + How To Watch

The Mashpee Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Clinton Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mashpee and Cohasset, and Cohasset kept the tradition alive. The Falcons were beaten by the Skippers 33-0 on Thursday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Clinton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They breezed past the Warriors to the tune of 42-0. The result was nothing new for the Gaels, who have now won five matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.

Clinton's win came from a few key players Mashpee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gavin Naughton, who rushed for 175 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Cox, who rushed for 128 yards and three TDs on only ten carries.

Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 548 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Mashpee's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mashpee didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Clinton when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Gaels' Colin Schmidt, who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Falcons to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
